MCMS Families,

Thank you for your partnership in a successful first week of school! Students showed up with great attitudes and energy, and that's a testament to your support.

On the subject of supporting your students, we are finally ready to reveal the long-awaited PTA at MCMS! If you are interested in joining this effort, kindly respond to this Google Form so that we can connect you with our leader, Kayla McDowell. We are so thankful to her for spearheading this initiative for student success.

We had several fun events this week to kick off the new school year, from athletic events to the Back to School Bash, and many student organizations gearing up, like Student Council, FCCLA, and more. We will also be bringing back the Smile Club this year, thanks to volunteer Stefanie Burns. If your students may be interested in joining, ask them to stay tuned to announcements in the coming weeks.

Also to kick off the year, students have started iReady testing. This important diagnostic tool allows us to measure students' individual progress and gauge their needs, to better support them throughout the year. You may have already heard from your students that they do not have to complete iReady lessons this year, and that is true; however, we are still using the iReady test three times per year for instructional purposes. If you would like to learn more about the test, you can view this video and/or this document. Score reports will be coming home with students soon.

Again, we appreciate you and your support of your students as we head into this new year. Please continue to reach out if you are having any problems with the parent communication app. The News Feed will always be your go-to spot for quick official announcements. You can find a staff directory, important documents like the Family FAQ, Code of Conduct, and SBDM agendas, and eventually even our cafeteria menus. If the Events are not currently showing for you, please rest assured that the app developers are working on an update to resolve that issue.

Have a great long weekend, and we will see everyone back on Tuesday for another wonderful week of learning!
